French Marans are docile, fun and friendly, lets learn some some fun facts about them:
Marans eggs were the preferred breakfast of James Bond.
The French Black Copper Marans was bred to supply French culinary masters the most delicious egg available. A pair of FBCM could cost over $500. It was said that a FBCM omelet could cost over $100.
Some French chefs are reputed to ONLY cook with Marans eggs, claiming they are superior in taste and quality.
This French breed Marans is named after the French town of Marans where they were originated
They lay some of the darkest eggs of any chicken breed.
The word Marans is always plural because that's the name of the French town (so one Marans, two Marans).
French Marans have feathered feet, and the English Marans have no feather legs.
